New 'Candyman' teaser offers fresh insight into a dark origin story

"Candyman ain't a he. Candyman's the whole damn hive. A story like that — pain like that — lasts forever."

These are the words spoken by Colman Domingo's character in the teaser for the Jordan Peele-penned Candyman, which sheds more light on the figure's origin story following the full-length trailer we had back in February.

Earlier in the month, director Nia DaCosta also tweeted another clip from the film, which uses shadow puppets to tell a story she describes as "at the intersection of white violence and black pain" — a story about "unwilling martyrs."
